Welcome Amari King to Davidson Local: A Youth Correspondent with a unique perspective

Welcome Amari King to Davidson Local: A Youth Correspondent with a unique perspective

At Davidson Local, we believe internships should be more than just résumé builders—they should be meaningful experiences that help young professionals grow. We’re excited to welcome Amari King, a Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy Junior, to our team.

Amari’s journey into journalism is inspired by other young professionals such as Addie Walser, a Lexington High School Senior, although he has shaped his internship to align with his personal and future career goals. With support from Davidson Local, his mother Chinue Herbert, and the Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy staff, Amari has crafted a role that blends his passions with hands-on experience. His father, Al King, is also a source of inspiration as a writer and published author of motivational book Let it be Known.

His internship will include writing insightful articles, event photography, and researching hot topics such as the use of AI in Davidson County Schools. With a strong interest in cybersecurity, he brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to his work—an approach that makes him stand out both in classrooms and in his journalism endeavors.

But there’s more to Amari than writing. He’s an enthusiast of growth mindset and abstract thought, an avid enjoyer of video games, and deeply interested in exploring how he can take this opportunity to the next level. His perspective blends professionalism with a dynamically youthful lens, making him a natural fit for the legacy of award-winning Davidson Local interns, many of whom describe their experience with us as “unique.”

Internships are meant to be mutually beneficial, and we take pride in shaping each one to fit the individual's needs and ambitions. Sometimes, that means tackling in-depth research projects; other times, it’s something as simple as visiting with neighbors. Regardless of the task, every experience is a chance to learn, and we’re thrilled to have Amari join us on this journey.

Please join us in welcoming Amari King to Davidson Local—we can’t wait to see the impact he makes.
