Give Work A Chance: Job Fair Tips

Give Work A Chance: Job Fair Tips

To help candidates succeed at the upcoming Give Work A Chance Job Fair on August 24 from4-7pm, below are some common mistakes for candidates to avoid:

1-Don’t bring a handful of resumes. Recommendation: bring between 20-40 resumes.

2- Don’t arrive in attire that can be deemed too casual. Being too casual can be construed as lack of interest or ambition to attain the job. Suit and tie and professional business attire recommended.

3-Don’t only meet with employers who market to consumers. While lines form for consumer marketed businesses, many times candidates will walk past  other companies whose names are not commonly known. Recommendation: Talk to all exhibitors at the Give Work A Chance Job Fair.

4- Don’t arrive too late to spend quality time with employers. The Give Work A Chance Job Fair starts at 4pm and goes until 7pm. Recommendation: Arrive at 3:30 pm to meet with employers while you have energy.

5-Don’t expect employers to call you. Over 500 candidates are anticipated to attend this event. Each candidate should take it upon themselves to pursue opportunities by persistently following up with desired employers.
