The energy was electric at Breeden Amphitheater in Lexington last night as the city gathered to kickoff The Lexington Barbecue Festival with The Jammin’ at the AMP Pre-Pig Shindig. The evening featured live bands, food trucks, commemorative souvenirs and a beer garden. Attendees were asked to bring a minimum of five cans of food for admission to the show with the donations benefiting Pastor’s Pantry.
The fun started as the sun set and the music began with crowds joining in on popular line dances and singing in unison to classic songs. The live show was opened by The Ultimate Eagles Tribute-The Border followed by Jim Quick and Coastline and the festivities were evident with the tunes carrying through Uptown Lexington.
The Lexington Barbecue Festival will hold its Opening Ceremony at 9:00 AM on Saturday October 28, 2023 at the Grandstand on the Square.
The Pre-Pig Shindig was a crowd pleaser, from Lexington’s new City Manager, Johnnie Taylor, to long-time festival fans. Guests danced all throughout the evening. {Photo Gallery by Antionette Kerr/Davidson Local}
