Hospice 17th Annual Ride for Angels fundraiser is today

Hospice of Davidson County (HODC) hosts its 17th Annual Ride for Angels motorcycle fundraising event at Denton Farmpark is today with registration check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Pre-registration for riders and passengers is currently available at https://www.hospiceofdavidson.org/ride-for-angels/

Pre-registration is not required, but strongly encouraged. “We are excited to continue our honored traditions of the annual Ride for Angels t-shirts, pins and rockers bars,” explained Christina Davenport, Director of Community Relations. “We are also introducing some new opportunities this year and are excited for our community to join us again at this much-loved event!”

A brief program will begin at 10:30 a.m. and include remarks on rider safety, sponsorship acknowledgements, the singing of the national anthem, and the pledge of allegiance. The ride, a 75-mile route planned and escorted by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, will begin at 11:00 a.m. The day will also include raffle drawings, photo opportunities with angel wings, and boxed lunches for all riders and passengers.

“The annual ride is a community tradition that brings together individuals from across county lines. It is inspiring to hear bike enthusiasts and attendees share stories of their loved ones who continue to hold significant meaning in their lives,” notes Chief Executive Officer, Laura Owen. “Many riders have formed friendships over the years giving the fundraiser an authentic, ‘homecoming’ atmosphere that allows for a time to reconnection and honoring the legacies of those who have passed, but are not forgotten.”

Beyond participating in the event by riding, attendees can show their support by purchasing the annual Ride for Angels t-shirt. Each year, individuals have the opportunity to purchase space on the t-shirt to list names of loved ones. The deadline for t-shirt sponsorships has passed, but the shirts remain a beloved annual tradition. T-shirt purchases are $20 and can be bought during the event or pre-ordered online.

Fundraising efforts like the annual motorcycle ride ensure that no one is denied supportive services when needed most. So far in 2024, HODC has provided more than $350,000 in Charitable Care days for community members. HODC’s mission is to ensure the exceptional hospice benefit is accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Charitable Care days would not be possible without our event sponsors, riders, passengers, and community partners.
