Hospice of Davidson County designated national ranking as Hospice Honors Award recipient
Hospice of Davidson County (HODC) has been named a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of CAHPS and bereavement survey programs for home health and hospice agencies.
This prestigious annual review recognizes agencies that continuously go above and beyond in providing high-quality care for patients and compassionate caregiver experiences. It acknowledges the highest performing agencies by analyzing the performance of the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey satisfaction and quality measures.
“At Hospice of Davidson County, we hold ourselves accountable for providing an exceptional care experience at every touchpoint,” explained Laura Owen, Chief Executive Officer. “When patients and families are navigating complex and terminal illness, we recognize every interaction is crucial. Our clinicians ensure each visit is conducted with an established set of protocols tailored uniquely to each patient. It is our deep commitment to ensure the needs of patients – and their loved ones – are met with compassion, understanding, and expert guidance.”
All 5,358 hospice providers in the nation are potential candidates for receiving a designation; however, the qualifications are stringent and achieving the Hospice Honors designation is a prestigious accomplishment. Out of the 250 certified hospice providers in the state of North Carolina, only fourteen (14) have been designated as Hospice Honors or Elite award recipients for 2024. HODC is proud to have been designated every year since 2012. “We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than ten (10) years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Jeremy Crow, Head of RCM and CAHPS Survey, “We congratulate Hospice of Davidson County on this recognition and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.”
To be considered for this award, the hospice agency must have scored above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on the Hospice CAHPS “Willingness to Recommend” question. If that criterion is met, performance is evaluated utilizing a set of 23 additional quality indicator measures. These scores are then compared on a question- by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database.
“Being nationally recognized as a Hospice Honors provider demonstrates our long- standing commitment to providing the highest level of care for our patients and caregivers,” emphasized Owen. “It is affirming to receive positive feedback from families still processing through a loss that clearly indicates their experience with our agency far exceeded their expectations.”
“Credit goes to our staff for giving their best, each and every day. It is significant work to walk alongside individuals as they experience their own unique end-of-life journey. We remain committed to providing compassionate support and expert care to both patients and their loved ones. We are proud to be founded by, integrated into, and a partner in caring for our amazing local community.”
