Hospice to virtually host 10th annual loss and grief conference

This year’s FREE event will be held virtually on Thursday, October 14 from 9am – 3pm.

LEXINGTON – Hospice of Davidson County, a recognized leader in the advancement of quality end-of-life care across the Piedmont Triad region, is excited to host its Tenth Annual Professional Conference on Grief and Loss. While operating with an abundance of caution due to the continued spread of COVID-19, the 2021 Annual Conference will be held virtually on Thursday, October 14 from 9am – 3pm.

Registration is required and will remain open until Friday, October 8.

This year’s conference will be presented by two renowned speakers; Sandra Bertman, Ph. D., FT and Gary Gardia.

Topics will include:

  • Taking a New Look at Grief Counseling: Theoretical Frameworks and Interventions

  • What to Look For: Assessing Needs and Opportunities of People who are Bereaved

  • Using the Arts and Humanities to Support the Dying, Bereaved, and Ourselves.

Sandra Bertman, Ph.D., FT, is a leading thanatologist and is known for using the arts and humanities to promote death education for medical personnel and the general public.

Gary Gardia has over 35 years of Hospice experience. He received the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) Heart of Hospice Award for developing innovative programs to meet the needs of caregivers and the bereaved. He is also the recipient of the Social Work Hospice and Palliative Network (SWHPN) Award of Excellence in Professional Education.

The conference is approved for five continuing education credits via The Association for Death Education and Counseling (AEDC).
