If you’re in Lexington on a Thursday evening, chances are you’ll hear the buzz of excitement, smell the sizzling flavors of local food trucks, and see families gathering for a night out. That’s because Food Truck Thursday at Bull City Ciderworks is back, and it’s bringing the community together once again.

This event, started two years ago by Tranise Brown and her late husband, Travis Fennell, has quickly become a beloved tradition. Initially inspired by their experiences in Miami, where food truck gatherings were a staple of community life, the couple wanted to create something similar in North Carolina. “We get so busy and tied up with work,” Tranise said. “I told Travis that if we could create one day where people could come together, it would be worth it.”

The couple initially launched their food truck venture in Salisbury, but after seeing how much people loved the experience, they expanded to Lexington. And the turnout speaks for itself. “You see kids, you see dogs, you see wheelchairs—you see everybody,” Tranise said. “It’s always in the evenings, so families can come together…. People made Thursday their family night.”

After a brief hiatus due to Travis’ passing, the event will continue to feature a local DJ, provided by Bull City CiderWorks, adding to the lively atmosphere. It’s the second year that Bull City CiderWorks has been part of the event, and their support has helped make Food Truck Thursday even more of a community staple.

And if there’s one thing Lexington takes seriously, it’s food. “Lexington don’t play about food,” Tranise joked. The event draws a variety of food trucks offering everything from soulful favorites to international flavors, all of which are announced on the event’s Facebook page. If you want to know which trucks are rolling in each week, checking the page is the way to stay updated.

This year's lineup of food trucks includes:

  • Island Boys

  • Astro Dogs

  • Holy Cookie Dough

  • Smokiin Mac

  • Josh Funnel Cakes

  • Mikes Corns

  • Papa Bear Concession

  • Donut NC

  • Something Different Seafood

  • Fat Backs Soul Food & BBQ

Food Truck Thursday isn’t just about the food—it’s about community. It’s a time to pause from the busyness of life, enjoy great flavors, and spend time with family and friends. Though beloved Travis is no longer here, his vision continues to bring people together, making Thursday nights in Lexington a special tradition.

Bull City Ciderworks is located at 599 S Railroad St, Lexington, NC 27292.
