Rocking the Block: A Decade of Fun, Awareness and Community

Rocking the Block: A Decade of Fun, Awareness and Community

For the past ten years, Rocking the Block has brought together the community for a day filled with excitement, entertainment, and important awareness initiatives. Organized by Francine Bowens, the event is not just about fun—though that remains a central theme—but also about supporting small businesses and providing vital resources to those in need.

This year, Rocking the Block continues its tradition of blending joy with purpose. Local small businesses will have the opportunity to showcase their products and make valuable connections, while non-profits and service providers will be on-site to share information about the services they offer. Organizations focusing on cancer awareness, AIDS support, veterans’ resources, Medicaid/Medicare, Head Start, Davidson County Community College, and Davidson County Ministries will all be present, ensuring that attendees leave with not only great memories but also essential knowledge.

Music, Performances, and Family Fun

No celebration is complete without music, and Rocking the Block delivers an uplifting lineup designed to make attendees feel good. A mix of gospel and Top 40 hits will set the tone, with a DJ keeping the energy high throughout the event.

The live performances promise to be a highlight of the day, featuring an impressive lineup of talented artists:

  • Elder Warren Click – Gospel singer bringing soulful inspiration.

  • Minister Talia Huntley – A powerhouse vocalist who has competed on American Idol and Sunday’s Best.

  • Ms. Elle Stephens – A pop recording artist with music available on Spotify. Having performed at Rocking the Block in 2024, she returns to deliver another unforgettable performance.

  • Terry Budwine – A gospel recording artist who also graced the stage in 2024, bringing his heartfelt sound to the audience once again.

Children are never left out at Rocking the Block, with plenty of fun activities designed just for them. From interactive games to engaging entertainment, there will be something for every young guest to enjoy.

A Community Celebration Like No Other

Francine Bowens emphasizes that Rocking the Block is about bringing joy to the community—something she believes is often lacking. It’s a day where neighbors come together to celebrate, support one another, and enjoy the best of what local talent and businesses have to offer.

After a decade of success, Rocking the Block remains a staple event, proving that fun and awareness can go hand in hand. Whether attending for the music, the networking opportunities, or simply to enjoy a day out with family, guests are sure to leave with a smile.

The tradition continues—Rocking the Block is still going strong!
