Highlights include:
A closed session with the following statement: ”G.S 143-318.11 (a) (6) to discuss personnel Matters; G.S. 143-318.11 (a) (3) for attorney-client privilege, G.S. 143-318.11(a)(8) to adopt the school safety components of school improvement plans by a local board of education or a school improvement team and G.S. 143-318.11(a)(1) to prevent the disclosure of information that is privileged or confidential pursuant to State or Federal law or not considered a public record within Chapter 132 of the NC General
Statutes.”
The board and administration honored school personnel and retiring staff.
More than 1.5 million dollars of facility ventilation and HVAC upgrades were approved as part of an Esser III/Schneider grant cycle package.
A policy for testing high-risk groups including athletics, marching band, chorus, ROTC, drama and dance. One-time parental consent is required for students under age 18. Adults within the district and volunteers supervising youth could also be tested weekly.
An advertising and recruitment plan for additional substitutes and custodians.
Technology plans with a course of action in the event of a shutdown. LCS is now a 1 to 1 district for iPads and Google Chrome requests. Parents will be surveyed in the next few days for connectivity needs.
Approval of a full-time public relations position to include community events and BOE meetings.
The board heard a COVID-19 update based on cases, sources of clusters and protocol.
The board reviewed preliminary results of a staff survey of The First 10 Days of the school year.
Superintendent Dr. Anitra Wells presented an updated Strategic Plan in accordance with academic performance reporting gathered from last year.
An affirmation of the previous mask requirement gained unanimous support. In accordance with Senate Bill 654, the board’s decision requires a monthly vote.
Superintendent Wells thanked Lowes Home Improvement of Lexington for assistance with grounds keeping. She also thanked Cornerstone Community Church and The Cory Holt Foundation for backpack donations.
Editor’s Note: Davidson Local has confirmed that a new Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach was approved by the school board. Adrian Lee of Forsyth County will join the district as an ED teacher at Lexington Senior High School in addition to coaching the team.
