Introducing Sidney Briggs: Davidson Local's newest intern
Sidney Briggs, Davidson Local’s newest intern, is a rising senior at Westchester Country Day School. At Westchester, she’s a member of seven clubs, including the debate club which she co-founded sophomore year to promote having hard conversations, respectfully. Outside of school, Sidney can normally be found at Oak Hollow Lake rowing with Triad United Rowing Association in the afternoons and on Zoom at night with various nonprofits including March For Our Lives.
Sidney also enjoys volunteering with Grace Epsicopal’s Youth Group and for the Pastor's Pantry of Lexington. She’s hopeful to study some combination of international relations, journalism, and Mandarin Chinese in college. Sidney believes in the importance of the correct usage of media to get accurate information out to the public, which led her to work with Davidson Local.
“Sidney approached us regarding her interest in journalism and government,” said Kassaundra Shanette Lockhart, Co-Founder and Managing Editor of Davidson Local. “From the start, she’s been an asset through her willingness to offer suggestions as well as step outside of her comfort zone. Despite the fact that she is still learning to navigate the local news waters, she has already begun to serve as our reporter at some government meetings. As a teen, she offers a unique perspective which will help us ensure their voices have a place in local news. We’re excited to have her on our team at Davidson Local!”
