At Parrott Benefit Group, the phrase “we’re a family” can be heard often. And now they have the recognition and hardware to prove it.

In May, during the Triad Business Journal’s (TBJ) Best Place to Work awards, it was announced that Parrott received second place in the micro category (10-24 employees). The company applied for the awards after TBJ solicited nominations. To determine the winners, Parrott employees were surveyed by Quantum Workplace. They evaluated criteria such as compensation, benefits, feeling valued and trust in senior leaders. Afterwards, TBJ selected the finalists based on cumulative scores and size category (the number of employees working in the Triad).

Liz Shive, president of Parrott, was thrilled to learn of the selection.

“We were very honored to have won second place in the micro category, excited to celebrate such an award and extremely thankful to our valuable employees for making us one of the best places to work in the Triad. It truly means the world to our company to have received such a respected award, as it provides us with a great opportunity to remind our clients that we are committed to excellence in our industry.”

Staffers were equally delighted about the award. Kenda Strickland found this to be great news, Dan Odorizzi congratulated everyone the team  and Michelle Wilson-Reynolds reminded the group of their internal adage, “As we say, ‘In a flock of pigeons, be a Parrott!’”

TBJ hosted a virtual awards event on May 13. The theme was “Movie Night, Starring the Best Places to Work in the Triad.” Parrott staff dressed up as characters from Pixar’s “The Incredibles.” Celebratory luncheons were held in Parrott’s Lexington and Raleigh offices.

Championing their fortieth anniversary this year, the award solidifies values the company has had in place for decades.

“Our philosophy is to be collaborative, supportive, inclusive and progressive, while encouraging each member of our team to bring their individual strengths to meet challenges and create success. In essence, it is our dedicated employees who made receiving this award even possible. We hope our legacy will be one of excellence in business and service as we work every day to do our best for our employees.”

From offering flexibility, the option to work remotely during the pandemic and encouraging a healthy work-life balance, Parrott is dedicated to providing an atmosphere where team members can thrive.

“Our dynamic family culture emphasizes respect, trust, open communication, empathy, quality time, adaptability, positivity and fun. We’ll always be committed to making sure our employees feel valued, motivated and listened to. We work hard to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of our team, empower them to succeed and support their needs with integrity. With forward thinking and continuous offering of new opportunities for our employees, we can ensure that Parrott continues to be one of the best places to work in the Triad.”
