It’s “All Together Now,” for Summer Reading at the Davidson County Public Libraries
The Davidson County Public Libraries Summer Reading Program for the year 2023 is themed, “All Together Now.” This theme highlights the values of kindness, friendship, and unity.
“The Davidson County Public Library places fun at the center of the Summer Reading Program. When children consider reading fun, they read more. When they read more, they increase their comprehension skills, build stronger vocabularies, and, especially in the summer, retain learning they gained throughout the school year,” said Sheila Killebrew, Library Director.
Children, teens, and adults who register for summer reading at their local branch will enjoy a plethora of events and programs which embrace togetherness. Attend kickoff parties featuring entertainment, food, games, activities, and more. Examples of events to expect include family game nights, movies under the stars, trivia, and crafts for participants of all ages.
The Davidson County Public Library system has 5 branches located in Lexington, Thomasville, Denton, North Davidson (Welcome), and West Davidson (Tyro). The dates for each branch’s summer reading program are as follows: Lexington Public Library (Monday, 6/12- Saturday, 7/22), Thomasville Public Library (Thursday, 6/1- Thursday, 8/8), North Davidson Public Library (Friday, 6/16- Friday, 7/28), Denton Public Library (Monday, 6/12- Saturday, 7/27), and West Davidson Public Library (Monday, 6/12-Friday, 7/21). Those who wish to sign-up for summer reading are encouraged to contact or drop by their local branch as dates for registration vary.
