Lexington Medical Center Foundation welcomes new members to board of directors

The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center Foundation announced the appointment of five individuals to its board of directors, effective January 2024. The new members offer a diverse range of expertise and a shared commitment to nurture and build community relationships and grow financial support to enhance the high quality and compassionate health care provided at Lexington Medical Center.

The 2024-2025 Lexington Medical Center Foundation board of directors is made up of 19 members and is led by Kay Leonard, chair, and Gene Klump, Vice Chair. The new board members include Wayne Alley, John Beck, Dan Briggs, Greg Turlington and Joe Watkins.

Wayne Alley has served in various leadership positions and has been influential in the economic growth and expansion of Lexington and Davidson County. He served more than 16 years on the Lexington City Council, with 10 of those years as mayor pro tem. Alley was recently recognized by the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce as its Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

John Beck owns John Christian Luxury Real Estate and he and his team have supported the Lexington Medical Center Foundation for several years. His firm is fueled by a greater purpose which is his special needs son, Christian.

Dan Briggs is an active leader in roles within Lexington and the state of North Carolina. He is the current president of Davidson and Piedmont funeral homes and he serves on the current N.C. Works Commission, appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper.

Greg Turlington is a partner of Turlington and Company. and he and his family have been long-time supporters of the Lexington Medical Center through the foundation. With his extensive background in finance, Turlington brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to help guide the Lexington Medical Center Foundation towards its annual philanthropic goals.

Joe Watkins is the current mayor pro tem of Lexington and a respected leader in the community. His commitment to Lexington aligns with Lexington Medical Center’s goal to provide quality health care to all. Watkins’ knowledge and professional network give the foundation a voice within civil and legislative conversations regarding community health needs.
