Lexington Middle School issued a shelter in place mode

This morning, as a result of a social media post threat via instagram; Lexington Middle School issued a shelter in place mode. Under the recommendation by the Lexington Police Department, a fire and explosive detection canine dog is being utilized to search the building by walking through the hallways and classrooms.

At Lexington City Schools the safety of all students and staff are our top priority, with this in mind students are required to go through metal detector checks every morning to ensure everyone's safety. Although this may seem to be an extraordinary measure, we will take all communication of threats and harm to students and staff very seriously.

In an effort to maintain transparency and effective communication, additional updates will be sent out to parents after the police have cleared the school via the District website, social media platforms and phone calls to each parent.
