Lexington native named new school principal

A Lexington native and Lexington Senior High School graduate has been named the new principal at Montlieu Elementary School in High Point.

Oneeka Lockhart will become the school’s principal, effective July 1st.

Lockhart spent four years as a curriculum facilitator at Fairview Elementary, before becoming the assistant principal of Hunter Elementary in 2021. As assistant principal at Hunter Elementary, she developed a plan to address the school’s instructional needs, utilized teacher leaders and also developed scorecard rubric and other data sources to make informed decisions when grouping students. In addition, she also assisted with duties beyond her post like teacher observations, supporting school safety, processing student information and guiding school transportation.

Lockhart holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from High Point University and a master’s degree in educational executive leadership from Gardner Webb University.
