Lexington Pride Festival 2024 celebrates a successful turnout

Arts Theatre 202 located on North Main Street in Lexington was the setting for the 2nd Annual Lexington Pride Festival which welcomed an estimated 400 plus attendees throughout the day.

There was a series of entertainment ranging from live performances to a DJ. Over 40 vendors lined the back area of the theatre and included everything from custom apparel and jewelry to art and unique Pride memorabilia. The vendors section tripled since last year and includes local organizations such as The Funk!, Bow Bow by Kyle, and Goose and the Monkey Brewhouse. There were also several food trucks which featured delicious fair from The Empanda Spot, Bee's Creamery, and Khrissy’s Kitchen.

The celebration was met with opposition as there were a small number of protesters that were visible throughout the day. Lexington Pride hosted Lexington’s first-ever After Pride Party following the Festival. Winston Salem’s Haus of Monstrosities hosted the show, with performances by their very own Vincent Van Hoe, Thigh Fieri, Drumstiqck and Romancia LaMort. The festival also had performances by several local top names in the field including Laytoya SJA, Drumstiqck and AmyNita Virosa.

“It was through the donations at last year’s Pride that we were able to establish Lexington Pride as a non-profit. We’re were excited for this second year - to show that Lexington Pride is here to stay and ensure the visibility of our local LGBTQ+ community,” said Rebecca Hart, Founder and Board President.
