Davidson County Sheriff's Office utilizes Drone Team to rescue local child

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 8:55 AM, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a missing 3-year-old child in the 800 block of Gus Hill Rd. Responding swiftly, patrol units confirmed that the child was not present in the family’s home.

In a coordinated effort, personnel from various divisions, including the specialized Drone Team, were deployed to assist in the search. Utilizing the agency’s state-of-the-art drones, equipped with advanced thermal and night vision technology, the child was located within minutes of the launch. Fortunately, the child was found in a densely wooded area near a body of water. Davidson County EMS arrived on the scene to assess the child’s condition and confirmed that the child was healthy and unharmed.

The newly formed Drone Team has already proven to be an invaluable resource during search and rescue operations when time is of the essence, and will continue to implement evolving technology to keep the citizens of Davidson County safe.
