LFD responds to E. 1st St. apartment fire

LEXINGTON – On Friday, Feb. 4, at approximately 2:11 pm, Lexington Fire Department responded to a residential apartment fire located at 205-A E. 1st Street. 

Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the apartment's front door. Units  searched the building to ensure all tenants were accounted for and safely outside.  At the same time, other teams were deploying lines to attack and extinguish the  fire, which was under control in about 10 minutes.  

The apartment sustained fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the residence. The occupant contacted the Red Cross for assistance. 

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the City of Lexington Fire Marshal's Office.
