With the cooler weather of autumn rolling in and the promise of a cold winter approaching, a local organization is collecting warm hats, toboggans, gloves, throws, socks and blankets to share with those in need.
The Davidson County Homeless Care Packages Collection Drive is underway and hosting a day for donations to be dropped off to prepare 300 backpacks of homeless care packages for disadvantage families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
A collection event will take place on Saturday, November 9th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 410 Unity Street in Thomasville at Thomasville High School. In addition there will be a drive-thru collection area available during the event to drop-off new items at the same location.
Local high school students have been selected to participate and to earn community services hours in addition to the experience of giving back to the community and society. Anyone interested in joining this cause should contact Robert M. Galimore at 336-266-5908.
