Coaches will make rounds, through out the week, spreading Jacket Pride to Lexington City Schools elementary students. Assistant coach Jasmine Hargrave said the athletic program emphasizes community service with students. “Our entire staff went to school here. We just believe in giving back to the community that raised us,” Hargrave said. “We encourage that for our team. They would be here today but they have classes.”

Head coach Robert Hairston was unable to join the group during instructional hours due to class commitments. The delegation offered that Hairston was committed to idea of community service for the team. “We think that everyone should do community service before college. This is important,” Hargrave said.

Hargrave also noted that people are less likely to support girl’s sports. Hargrave said, “This is an opportunity to get the next generation excited about coming to our games.”

Head Junior Varsity coach Tyrone Terry echoed the sentiments. As the team prepares for a carwash fundraiser on May 15, 2021 at Brighter Financial at 285 N Talbert Blvd, Lexington NC 27292. Terry invited the community to support the Lady Jackets by participating on next Saturday.

The group has a number of events planned to engage with the community. “People have done a lot for us. We need to give back,” said Terry.
