LFD Responds to an Apartment Fire

LEXINGTON, NC – The City of Lexington Fire Department responded to a  residential apartment fire at 503 Myers Park Dr. early Wednesday morning.  There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire was determined to be  accidental due to unattended cooking.

Fire crews arrived at 4:00 am to find light smoke conditions coming from the back  of the apartment. They quickly gained access and deployed attack lines to extinguish the fire. A neighbor had used a garden hose to begin extinguishing the  fire before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters searched the apartments to ensure all the tenants were out of the  building. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, and was under control in  about 26 minutes.

The apartment sustained heavy damage to the kitchen and smoke damage  throughout.

For more information, contact Battalion Chief Waylon Turbeville at (336)248-3935.
