Lexington City Schools District Athletic Director, Ronnie Beverly, has submitted his two week resignation to the system. When contacted by Davidson Local, Beverly shared he had prepared a statement regarding his upcoming departure. It reads as follows:

I am honored and humbled that you want to interview me to do a story on me. It was not me, but God who gets credit for anything I have done or accomplished.

I enjoyed my time as a student athlete here at Lexington Senior High School especially when our football team won state championships. Those will always remain highlights. Then to come back to LSHS as the athletic director was awesome. To win the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Athletic Director of the Year award (in 2016) and to be part of the NCHSAA executive board for four years was a highlight of my position.

I have enjoyed working with the principals, teachers, staff, school board and students.

We were able to improve some of our equipment - a new score board thanks to generous donors and a booster club that assisted in finding donors. We now have a state of the art football field. We have recognized area clergy for their leadership in the community. The Carolina Panthers football organization has been a benefit to our athletic program. We have instituted The Hall of Fame to recognize former athletes for their contributions to the school. We have also recognized the accomplishments of Dunbar High School and the students.

I have had the support of my wife, Tracy, my daughters, Alycia and Alexis and even my mother, Dr. Arnetta Beverly, worked in the concession stand.

If you’ve seen the movie, The Lion King, remember Rafiki said "It is time." I feel the time has come for me to move on.

My gratitude is to the entire Lexington community and I wish the very best success to the new AD, the coaches, teams and Lexington Senior High School.

Ronnie Beverly

*Statement from LCS Superintendent Dr. Anita Wells - Mr. Ronnie Beverly will truly be missed in Lexington City Schools. We wish him well in his future endeavors.
