The fundraiser will be held at Christo’s restaurant on Main St. and Cotton Grove Rd. December 12, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. eat in and take out. Meals on Wheels of Lexington, Inc. began serving meals to residents in Lexington in the 1960s. The mission of Meals on Wheels of Lexington, Inc. is to serve the elderly, sick or otherwise home bound a hot nutritious meal 5 days a week. The delivery provides daily contact with clients, many of whom are lonely and in need of love and attention. The meals assist persons to live at home rather than in a rest home or nursing home.

Meals on Wheels of Lexington, Inc. only has one paid employee, a part-time cook that prepares the meals each weekday. The Organization prepares meals at the First Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington. Volunteers for each route deliver the meals each weekday. The delivery routes are organized by local churches.

Meals on Wheels is funded by churches, individuals, United Way and a small grant. With so many elderly with food insecurities and food prices so high our need for funds has grown considerably. This fundraiser will help us immensely in our goal to feed all in need. The recipients of meals are typically at least 62 years old. In 2022, we provided over 19,000 meals. Our organization typically does not have a waitlist for clients, we try to serve all qualified individuals who are in need. Contributions to our organization will continue to allow us to serve our current amount of meals and assist us to maintaining a zero-client waitlist.
