Meet Davidson County’s new Fire Marshal K-9 Boone
Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office is pleased to announce that Fire Marshal K-9 Boone has officially joined his new family here in Davidson County Government.
Boone is an American Field Lab trained in ignitable liquid detection and with his unique training, will assist the Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Davidson County Fire Investigation Task Force in investigating the origin and cause of fires occurring in our county.
Boone began life at Blast Wingshooting Kennels in Aniwa, Wisconsin and is the offspring of a Fox Red American Field Lab named Cowboy. From there, Boone left Wisconsin and joined
Reliant Investigation INC. to begin his training in accelerant detection.
During his training, Reliant found that Boone stood out as one of the top K-9s ever trained by their organization. After several months of training and conditioning, Boone came to Davidson County on Monday, February 26, joining Deputy Fire Marshals John Webster and Eric Barker to start K-9 handler training.
After several days of training, John and Eric were tested on their skills, knowledge and abilities by CADA (Canine Accelerant Detection Association) passing with flying colors. Boone's first official duty day was yesterday, March 01, 2024.
The Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office would like to thank the Davidson County Board of Commissioners, Davidson County Manager’s Office, Davidson County Attorney’s Offices, Davidson County Human Resources Office, Davidson County Emergency Services, Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, Davidson County Fire Departments, Davidson County Fire Investigation Task Force, Central NC Fire Investigation Task Force, City of Lexington Fire Department, City of Thomasville Fire Department, Union County Fire Marshal’s Office and any others for their support and assistance making Boone's journey to Davidson County possible.
Boone will begin to make his rounds to meet and greet all his supporters shortly and will soon be available for special events and fire prevention education functions.
