Miss Lexington raising funds for national foundation, meets with Sen. Jarvis

I had the pleasure of meeting with Miss Lexington, Ava Katherine Socarras. This outstanding young lady reached out to my office in regards to raising Kidney Disease Awareness in North Carolina as she is very passionate about this topic considering it has affected her family. It was hard to believe at first however when I had been informed by Miss Socarras that Kidney Disease is the 9th leading cause of death in the United States, it took my attention. Miss Ava Katherine Socarras is an ambassador for The National Kidney Foundation and referred me to take a quiz 7 question quiz that would help allow me to know if I am at risk for kidney disease. Miss Socarras is also raising funds for The National Kidney Foundation and could use all the support possible as she will be competing for the Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen title in June of this year. As an aspiring young leader in our community, I am proud to have Ava Katherine Socarras representing us as Miss Lexington!
