Merry Christmas! Announcing a new grant and need for matching community funds
Merry Christmas, Cherished Friends!
As we embrace the holiday spirit, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our loyal readers, advertisers, and generous donors. We currently reach around 60,000 unique visitors each month. People average almost 2 minutes reading Davidson Local stories and media alerts.
Your support, whether through joining us for the first time or renewing your annual giving commitment to Davidson Local, has been a tremendous source of encouragement. It’s a powerful reminder of why we started Davidson Local and strive to provide free local news. The reality is that delivering quality journalism does incur costs.
One of our dedicated supporters beautifully put it, saying, “Your paper gave me motivation to keep my business.” This sentiment highlights the profound impact that our work has on our community, and we’re thrilled to play such an important role.
We’ve made quite a few requests of you recently, and now I am thrilled to share some exhilarating news! Last week, we informed our Press Pass Members about a fantastic milestone: Davidson Local has been awarded a competitive 1 year $20,000 grant from the North Carolina Local News Lab. This funding will be instrumental in enhancing our local news coverage and ensuring that we continue to serve our community effectively.
As part of our ambitions for the future, we aim to raise an additional $20,000 through contributions from our dedicated community members along with another $20,000 through local advertising. This combined effort will help us sustain Davidson Local for yet another year of providing informative and engaging news. This year we are embracing the slogan: Local News for Thirsty Minds
We deeply appreciate your support in helping us create a model that is not only respected but also cherished by our peers in journalism.
If you feel inspired to help us reach this important goal, please click here to contribute, or you may also choose to mail a check to Davidson Local at 211 Williams Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
*For those wishing to make tax-deductible donations, please ensure that checks are made out to our nonprofit fiscal agent, the Black Butterfly Foundation.*
Many said it would be impossible, but we are still here four years later. Thank you for standing with us as we lead the charge in providing FREE local news that keeps our community connected and informed!
