DWI Task Force yields multiple charges in Davidson County

On November 7th & 8th Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office T.R.A.C.E. Team along with officers from the Lexington Police Department, Thomasville Police Departments DWI Task Force and the Denton Police Department conducted a multi-agency high visibility engagement through the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program in the area of Highway 109 South between Thomasville and Denton.

As a collaborative effort officers issued 164 charges to include driving while license revoked, speeding, careless & reckless driving, open container, allowing an unlicensed driver, registration violations, no insurance, fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired, possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrested three subjects for driving while impaired on Highway 109 South. One of those arrested for DWI was age 16. A total of (4) four DWI charges were issued.

The following were arrested during the operation.

  • Jessica Gwyn of Denton was stopped on Hwy 109 South near Ernest Snider Road, Lexington for a traffic violation. During the stop Jessica was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance. She is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 5, 2024.

  • Christopher Strickland of Denton was stopped on Hwy 109 South near Ernest Snider Road, Lexington for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop he was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 5, 2024.

  • Johnathan Hughes Pemberton of Lexington was attempted to be stopped on a motorcycle for a traffic violation in the area of Hwy 109 South near Hannersville Road, but fled from Detectives. With the assistance of the community the motorcycle was located at a residence in the 800 block of Old Hwy 109, Lexington. Upon further investigation Johnathan Hughes Pemberton was identified as the suspect on the motorcycle and was arrested at 827 Old Hwy 109, Lexington. During the arrest Pemberton was found in possession of a firearm. Pemberton was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude, speeding, driving while license revoked, no insurance, registration violation, careless and reckless driving, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon. The motorcycle was seized. Pemberton is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 9, 2024.

  • Kevin Ray Harris of Selma North Carolina was stopped on Hwy 109 South near Ben Lee Road, Thomasville for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop Harris was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule III-controlled substance (suboxone), possession of a schedule VI-controlled substance (Xanax), possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 9, 2024.

  • Kevin Dwayne Gallimore of Lexington, was stopped on Hwy 109 South near Noahtown Road, Lexington for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, Gallimore was arrested and charged with speeding, no operators license, no liability insurance, registration violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia. Gallimore is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 9, 2024.

  • Juan Alberto Saucedo was stopped for speeding on Hwy 109 South near Lambeth Road, Thomasville. During the course of the stop, Saucedo was arrested and charged with speeding, no operator’s license, and driving while impaired. He is scheduled to appear in Lexington Court on December 4, 2024.

  • James Powers of Thomasville was stopped for speeding on Hwy 109 South near Noahtown Road, Thomasville. During the course of the stop he was arrested and charged with speeding and driving while impaired. Powers is scheduled to appear in Lexington Court on December 4, 2024.

  • Ivey Elswick of Trinity North Carolina was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding on Highway 109 South near Ben Lee Road, Thomasville. During the course of the stop Elswick was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 5, 2024.

  • Joel Andrew Wickum of Lexington was stopped on Hwy 109 South at E. Hwy 64, Lexington for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, Wickum was arrested and charged with open container of spiritous liquor, expired registration plate, driving while license revoked, muffler violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wickum is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on December 6, 2024.
