North jumped out to an early lead but the hornet's wouldn't go away. Matching each score the hornet's continued to swarm led by #11 and Georgia commit, Jalon Walker. Early in the third quarter, #8 Reid Neisley made an unbelievable catch in the back of the endzone as the knights went up 21-14. Late in the third North looked to stop Salisbury on a pivotal third down as #14 Alex Naylor jumped to knock down a deep pass. The hornet's were able to capitalize on some luck as the ball bounced off Naylor and landed right in the hands of the Salisbury receiver who went the distance to tie the game at 21. The 4th quarter proved to be a battle and the hornet's were wearing down the defense with a strong running game. The knights managed to attempt a field goal late but a high snap managed to throw off the timing and the kick was pushed wide.

Salisbury took over and was able to drive the length of the field and convert their field goal opportunity. The hornet's took their first lead 24-21 with 1 minute 9 seconds left. The knights were not able to do anything in the weighing moments. As the clock expired emotions and tears began on the knights sidelines. Players holding teammates became a heartfelt scene and head coach Brian Flynn told his players how proud he was. Flynn told his seniors how they set such an example for the younger players to look up too.

Friday night lights for North Davidson ended 1 game from their goal of playing in the NCHSAA 2AA state championship.
