Novant Health raises minimum wage for all employees

Effective March 3, Novant Health will increase its current minimum wage from $15 per hour to $17 per hour. More than 4,400 Novant Health team members systemwide will benefit from the living wage increase. This, combined with team member salary increases for 2023, represents an investment of more than $100 million.

“Continuing to provide a meaningful living wage for our team members remains a top priority at Novant Health,” said Carl S. Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health. “Like other health systems nationwide, our teams and our operations have been stretched beyond belief the past three years. Despite these challenges, Novant Health is proud to continue to prioritize our commitment to team members so they can care for our communities.”

In the past six years, Novant Health has steadily raised its living wage with three increases. In 2017, Novant Health implemented a minimum wage of $11 per hour in North Carolina, a rate based on local costs of living over and above the state-mandated minimum wage, commonly referred to as a living wage. In 2018, the living wage was adjusted to $12.50 per hour and in 2021 Novant Health increased the living wage again to $15 per hour.

“Novant Health’s commitment to upward and economic mobility starts with looking internally and ensuring our team members have the ability to thrive,” said Carmen Canales, senior vice president and chief people and belonging officer. “When we invest in our team members, we invest in their families and our communities.”

In January 2022, Novant Health surprised team members with an extra week of paid time off or the cash equivalent, a more than $40 million investment to support team members.

Novant Health offers competitive compensation and benefits packages as part of its commitment to its team members. To learn more about career opportunities with Novant Health, visit Careers.NovantHealth.org/Careers.
