Painted Piano Festival Returns to Downtown Thomasville with music, art and community vibes

Painted Piano Festival Returns to Downtown Thomasville with music, art and community vibes

The heart of downtown Thomasville is getting ready to come alive with music, color, and creativity as the Painted Piano Festival returns on Friday, May 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. This annual celebration transforms the streets into a vibrant stage where music meets art—and everyone’s invited.

At the center of it all? Pianos. Not just any pianos, though—these are transformed into stunning works of art by local creatives who volunteer their time and talent. This year, the spotlight shines on artists Dana Holliday, Christie Priska, and her apprentice Katie, who each bring their own flair and passion to the keys.

“Our artists do more than paint,” says one festival organizer on Facebook. “They tell stories. Every piano becomes a visual expression of what music and community mean to us here in Thomasville.”

The Painted Piano Festival isn’t just a feast for the eyes—it’s a full sensory experience. The evening promises live piano performances, live painting, dance showcases, line dancing, and a variety of local food options. And for the younger crowd (or the young at heart), Disney Princesses will be making magical appearances throughout the event.

The vibe? “High-energy but low-key,” organizers say—a space where families can gather, artists can shine, and neighbors can reconnect under the lights of downtown.

The pianos themselves remain on display throughout the summer, inviting passersby to stop, play a tune, or simply admire the artistry. It’s a uniquely Thomasville tradition that combines public art with public participation—blurring the line between performance and play.

Whether you’re a music lover, an art enthusiast, or just looking for a fun Friday night out, the Painted Piano Festival offers something for everyone. And best of all? It’s free to attend.

So bring a chair, bring a friend, and bring your dancing shoes. Downtown Thomasville will be singing, painting, and playing all evening long—and you won’t want to miss a note.
