Planning and development underway to widen U.S. 64 east in Lexington to Asheboro

Planning and development are underway to widen U.S. 64 from east of I-85 in Lexington to the Asheboro Bypass in Davidson and Randolph counties.

Proposed work on the 19-mile corridor would tie in U.S. 64 to the existing I-85, N.C. 109 and the Asheboro Bypass interchanges. The proposed project would also replace the bridge over the Uwharrie River.

The purpose of the proposed project is to improve traffic congestion and traffic flow along the entire corridor.
