Political Opinion: From Sen. Jarvis' Desk - May 6, 2022
Dear Friends,
This has been another busy week preparing for short session and of course holding down the office by addressing constituent concerns. I will continue to push constituent services as my number one priority in this office as I'm here to serve you. Let's get right into this weeks newsletter:
The federal reserve raised interest rates the highest they have in the last 22 years, in an effort to curb inflation and the sky-rocketing prices on ordinary goods.
Today, the General Statutes Commission Non-Standing Committee met in Raleigh to discuss upcoming bills being introduced in the short session.
We welcomed Elite Flight Academy and Apex Chiropractic to our district with a Grand Opening Ceremony put on by the Lexington Chamber of Commerce. Congratulation to these businesses as they're strengthening local business here in our district!
I want to recognize two talented high school students: Kara Conrad & David Smith on being selected for the Senate Page Ambassadors Program here at the General Assembly for the summer. This is a great opportunity for these students to learn the legislative process.
The Golden LEAF Foundation, a North Carolina nonprofit dedicated to serving rural areas has awarded the Town of Thomasville $1,100,000 for the sewer infrastructure needed for the Nucor Development Site. This is huge for our community as we look to bring more jobs to our district
Folks, don't forget to thank the mothers this weekend as Mother's Day is on Sunday. To our mothers in the district - we appreciate you and couldn't do it without you! #HappyMother'sDay
If you have concerns, or questions, you can reply to this newsletter, email, or call my office at (919) 733-5743.
I also take time each day to personally call citizens in our district to listen to their concerns. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you!
