At Rierson Farms NC LLC, you will find a herd of goats, chickens and some farm friends such as donkeys, Ollie and Finn, and cats, Mila and Mason. Zachary and his wife, Monica, are the owners/operators of Rierson Farms NC, which was officially registered in March of 2021, however, the passion for growing was cultivated way back.

Growing up, Zachary enjoyed visiting his grandparents’ farm in Thomasville, and from there, his interest and love in farming flourished and he found he was really good at it. Initially, he grew a small garden and had a few chickens all together producing just enough to feed a few neighbors and friends. After meeting Monica, who is native to Panama, they began to add animals to their farm, their first being goats, Neptune and Forsetti. Presently, they have 23 goats, chickens, guineas, donkeys and others to make Old MacDonald envious!

Zachary and Monica Rierson pride themselves in offering fresh produce and goats milk-based products to the community at affordable prices. Follow them through their Instagram account, and witness firsthand just how happy they are doing what they love. They have recently added beehives to their farm and are so excited about the little pollinators and the help they will add to their farming way of life.

In February of this year, the Riersons completed a greenhouse. They had dreamed of having one for some time and are delighted the greenhouse will allow them to start crops earlier so that they can provide fresh produce sooner to the community.

You can also find them supporting fellow farmers and are currently members of both the Lexington and Thomasville Farmers Markets. “We love utilizing the local markets and other farmers to educate the community on how we grow, about new produce they may have never seen before and how to cook it and to create that relationship with the consumer you do not get at a regular store.”

The Riersons will soon venture into lending one of their goats into animal therapy. Therapy animals come in many forms such as horses, llamas, rabbits, dogs and even goats. The Rierson’s goat, Caytie, is the lucky kid that will join the ranks of being labeled a service goat. Caytie is the Rierson’s first bottle fed baby and was given to them when Caytie’s mother was unable to care for her.

After learning about Rierson Farms NC, you can definitely say their passion meets their purpose. If you are looking for fresh produce, goats milk-based products from farmers who care not just about the products they sell but about their community and the relationships they build then look no further.
