Press Release: Lexington City Schools secures $21,180 grant to enhance campus security
Lexington City Schools is proud to announce the successful award of a $21,180 grant, securing funds out of the total applied amount of $46,310.45, aimed at fortifying campus security. The grant will fund critical initiatives to enhance security measures across the district's senior high school and middle school.
The primary focus of the grant is to acquire six state-of-the-art Walk Through Metal Detectors and Temperature Scanners, strategically distributed with four designated for the senior high school and two for the middle school. Each metal detector is approximately $3,772.00, totaling $22,632.00. Additionally, the grant covers essential accessories such as caster wheel sets for increased mobility and a battery unit ensuring 8 hours of continuous operation.
The provider of these cutting-edge security solutions will further contribute to the implementation by providing installation and training on-site. The comprehensive quote for these services amounts to $27,762.00, ensuring that Lexington City Schools is equipped with top-tier security technology.
In collaboration with a local company, Archdale-Thomasville Locksmiths, contractual services have been secured to address security concerns. This involves Master Keying 210 classrooms, providing a tailored security solution for each classroom. The breakdown of services includes cylinders master keyed for 210 classrooms at Lexington Senior High School, new locks with 25 sargent cylinders for our buildings, and the comprehensive labor cost for installation totalling $18,548.45.
