Pair charged with theft
Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office T.R.A.C.E. Team, assigned to the Special Investigations Division, arrested Frankie Dale Hicks of Lexington and Dorcus Estelle Newton of Denton during a theft investigation at 163 White Dove Drive, Lexington on July 11th.
Hicks, a wanted fugitive for probation violation and was found hiding underneath a bed in the residence. He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by felon, (3) three counts of felony breaking & entering, (3) three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of stolen property, child abuse, misdemeanor possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hicks was also found in possession of a homemade explosive device that was seized and turned over to the Winston Salem Police Departments Bomb Squad for further investigation of its contents.
Hicks was also served with outstanding warrants from Denton Police Department, Lexington Police Department, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, aggressive driving, driving while license revoked, fail to heed lights and siren, speeding, failure to maintain lane, failure to return hired motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resisting public officer, driving while license revoked, displaying a fictitious registration plate, felony altering serial numbers, fictitious information to an officer, displaying a fictitious registration plate, failing to apply for new title and failing to surrender license.
Dorcus Newton was also arrested and charged with (2) two counts of felony breaking & entering, (2) two counts of felony larceny after breaking & entering, felony possession of stolen property, harbouring a fugitive, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, child abuse, possession of a firearm by felon and misdemeanor possession of stolen property. Both are scheduled to appear in Lexington Court on July 30, 2024.
