Six people charged with cruelty to over 40 animals

In June of 2024, Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office began an Animal Cruelty Investigation in the Lexington area advising of a large number of dogs and cats at the residence, that appeared to need Veterinary Care.

During the investigation, it was discovered, that Tabitha Ascencion, Lazaro Ascencion, Bradley Ascencion, Ashley Fulk, Billy Leath, and Shawna Leath, were in possession of over 40 domestic dogs and cats, most of which needed Veterinary Care, located between the two residences on the property. Multiple Cruelty Compliance Orders were issued, and multiple Rescue Organizations assisted in treating and removing animals from the residence, over the time frame from June 2024-September 2024.

On September 30, 2024, Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, executed a Search and Seizure Warrant for the property, and seized the remaining 6 dogs and 13 cats. Lazaro, Tabitha, Bradley Ascencion, and Ashley Fulk were charged with 2 Felony counts Animal Cruelty and 11 Misdemeanour counts Animal Cruelty. Billy and Shawna Leath were charged with 18 Felony counts Animal Cruelty and 2 Misdemeanour Counts of Animal Cruelty. The are scheduled to appear in Davidson County Court on November 5, 2024.
