Social Action Committee honors students

The Martin Luther King Social Action Committee (MLK-SAC) celebrated their 22nd MLK Oratorical Contest, Saturday, January 14, 2023, hosted by Mills Homes Baptist Church, campus of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, 701 Watson Circle., Thomasville, NC. The MLK Dean of Students, Dr. Pamela S. Jackson contacted principals/guidance counselors starting in October 2022. Thirteen students (5 juniors and 8 seniors) represented 10 high schools for the 2023 MLK Oratorical Contest. Thirteen scholarships were given to students and four superlatives awards.

There was a 14th Scholarship, $500-Tillie Richbourg Memorial Scholarship Award given to Claudia Davis, a student at Winston-Salem State University, who assisted with the 2023 MLK Oratorical Contest.
