Unidos: Community leaders celebrate Hispanic Heritage month
The City of Lexington will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month starting September 2022 with a couple of events. The national observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting September 15 and ending October 15 of each year. The theme for this year’s celebration is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.” The Latino Association of Davidson County is a nonprofit that was created to connect, organize, educate, and advocate on behalf of the Latino Community of Davidson County.
Lexington City Manager recognized as NC Main Street Champion
Thirty-three North Carolina Main Street Champions will be recognized for their commitment to downtown revitalization and strong communities in 2021 during a virtual Recognition Ceremony on March 10th. Lexington City Manager Terra Greene was one of the honorees.
