Graduation for participants in Getting Ahead is on the calendar for December 5, and the community is invited to celebrate their accomplishments. These hard-working neighbors are starting their journeys out of poverty and into stability and the organization is proud of all the accomplishments they have made so far. Those who attend the graduation will hear stories about participants’ experiences, moments of discovery and awakening in the group, and future goals they have set. There will also be a networking dinner designed to allow Getting Ahead participants to build their business contacts.
After dedicating 32 years to Davidson Medical Ministries, executive director Sandy Motley is stepping down in preparation to pursue a position in local politics.
With the theme of My Health Matters, the free two-day conference includes educational opportunities for health care professionals, individuals and families on August 12th and 13th. The conference, located at Lexington Senior High School, is open to individuals who live in the city, county and region.
31 years ago, a group of community leaders led by Dr. James F. Slyman determined Davidson County would benefit from a volunteer based free clinic for the uninsured.
Several local groups including Davidson Medical Ministries, Compassion Inspiring Action, Scout Metals and Davidson Local came together to serve warm meal to local families this Thanksgiving.
Davidson Medical Ministries is a charitable clinic that has served the uninsured of Davidson County with quality health care since 1992. In 2005 a clinic was opened in Thomasville. In 2012 Davidson Medical Ministries partnered with Kintegra Health, a federally qualified health center to serve the under-insured.
