The Davidson-Davie Community College men's basketball team, known as The Storm, is set to compete in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament this week in Danville, Illinois. As the 2025 6-Peat South Atlantic Conference Champions, The Storm enter the tournament with significant momentum and a championship mindset.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Matt Ridge, the program has established itself as one of the elite junior college teams in the nation. Over 17 years, Coach Ridge has amassed an impressive record of 466 wins against just 83 losses, the most by any NJCAA Division II or III program during that span.
The team's recent history underscores their dominance:
2022-2023 Season: The Storm achieved a remarkable 35-1 overall record, including a perfect 22-0 in conference play.
2023-2024 Season: They continued their excellence with a 35-2 overall record.
In national competitions, Davidson-Davie has been a formidable contender:
2021 NJCAA DII National Tournament: The Storm finished as runners-up, falling to Des Moines Area Community College in the championship game
2022 NJCAA DII National Tournament: They again reached the championship game but were defeated by South Suburban College.
Fans can catch all the action live on the NJCAA Network, with single-game and full-tournament viewing options available.
With a dominant season behind them, The Storm are ready to take on the nation's best. Stay tuned for an exciting week of #MarchMadness and support the team as they chase another championship!
