Thomasville named DAC to NC Main Street

We are pleased to announce that Thomasville has been selected to participate in the Downtown Associate Community Program, coordinated under the NC Main Street and Rural Planning Center at the North Carolina Department of Commerce. This was a competitive application process, Thomasville was the only city selected in 2023 to be awarded DAC status and will receive services over the next 2 years. The NC Main Street and Rural Planning Center staff believes that our interest in improving the downtown along with the existing business mix and building stock, makes Thomasville an excellent candidate for this program. NC Dept of Commerce will be working with our community leaders to develop a sustainable downtown organization that will position Thomasville's downtown for economic growth and development. We believe that our community’s participation in this program will lead to its designation as a North Carolina Main Street community in the next two years. 

A big thank you to our City Council, City Leaders, community leaders and volunteers for believing in our downtown. This movement has been lead by the non-profit PACE (People Achieving Community Excellence) who have been instrumental in re-vitalizing and repurposing downtown Thomasville since it’s inception in 1991. Now more than ever we can see all of these moments coming together to make a BIG movement toward making our downtown a NC Main Street destination. It is with great JOY that I serve in this position and look forward to more MOVEMENT!
