Thomasville PD Alert: Pedestrian hit and killed while crossing HWY 29

MEDIA RELEASE

Thomasville, NC – On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 1:45 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of U.S. 29S and North Road in reference to a pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer.

Christopher Edwards, 36, of Thomasville, was attempting to cross the southbound lanes when he was struck by a tractor-trailer operated by Barry Washington, 64, of High Point. Washington did not sustain any injuries. Edwards was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by the Thomasville Police Traffic Safety Unit. No charges have been filed.
