Thomasville police looking for help with hit and run

The Thomasville Police Departments’s Traffic Safety Unit is seeking information about a hit and run accident that occurred on Thursday, December 21, 2023, 6:17 p.m., at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Davidson Street.

Jacob Gidney, 24, of Thomasville, was traveling north on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on a bicycle. A gold vehicle was traveling south on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto Davidson Street. The vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way and struck Gidney.

Gidney was transported by Davidson County EMS to Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center where he was treated and released for injuries sustained in the collision.

The gold vehicle was last seen traveling east on Davidson Street and should have front-end damage. It is also possible this vehicle travels in this area frequently.
