Unidentified body found at vacant Lexington residence

On Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a vacant residence located at 506 North Salisbury Street regarding a death investigation. 

The 911 caller indicated that they and an acquaintance went into the house to escape the heat that day and found a deceased body inside the residence. 

 Officers confirmed a deceased body in a bedroom of the house and observed that it was in advanced stages of decomposition. Lexington Police Department detectives and crime scene investigators responded to assist.

Interviews were completed with the witnesses who located the body and the scene was thoroughly processed by investigators. There are currently no signs or evidence of foul play.

 Detectives are currently working leads to identify the person so that appropriate notification can be made to the family.
