Update: Municipal elections

Update: Municipal elections

Throughout 2022, the City of Lexington elections, judges and commissioners for Davidson County elections, and the Lexington City Schools Board of Education elections will all occur.

Per the Davidson County Board of Elections, currently specific dates haven’t been set. Once the 2020 census information becomes available Lexington’s precinct lines could be redrawn. This redistribution could effect both the Lexington and the State Senate elections.

The City of Lexington elections filing period is dependent on the census, so the dates haven’t be released.

  • Editor’s note: We were made aware this morning, by a citizen, that the filing period for Lexington’s mayoral and city council races will close on Friday, August 13 at 12:00 p.m. Previously, this information hadn’t been conveyed to Davison Local. It was confirmed this morning by Ruth Huneycutt, director of the board of elections. There was no explanation as to why Davidson Local wasn’t provided with this information when previous inquiries were made.

The judges and commissioners will have their primary election in March 2022, but the election day date hasn’t been released.

The Lexington City Schools Board of Education election will take place in November 2022, and the filing period has not yet been released.
