Weekend event will benefit Thomasville charities
Two charities in Thomasville focusing on providing for those in need will be the recipients of proceeds from a fundraiser this weekend. Thomasville Empty Bowls is sponsoring. “An Enchanted Christmas at Linbrook Heritage Estates” on Sunday, December 5 from 1p.m. until 5p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit Cooperative Community Ministry and Project Divine Interruption.
According to Thomasville Empty Bowls founder Sandra McGhee, “Our main focus is on alleviating hunger in the Thomasville community. Even though the event takes place in Trinity, all the funds raised stay right here in Thomasville.”
Cooperative Community Ministry houses a food bank for Thomasville. Proceeds will be used to stock the shelves and address food insecurities in other ways. Project Divine Interruption raises funds specifically for homeless and displaced children in Thomasville City Schools. These are children who have no permanent residence. Hunger and food insecurities are often prominent among those students.
Each year, Empty Bowls holds an annual fundraiser dinner and contributes several thousand dollars to these two worthwhile charities. The past two years the event has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
“We have had to get creative to bridge the gap in those lost funds,” stated McGhee. ‘An Enchanted Christmas at Linbrook Heritage Estate’ will offer Thomasville and surrounding communities a glimpse at this wonderful estate lavishly decorated for the holidays, and will enable us to touch many lives here in our town.”
Tickets are $20 each (children 12 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult) and can be purchased the following ways: the Memorial United Methodist Church office (336)472-7718; through Sandy McGhee (336)870-4015; Charles Hepler (336)689-9952; or online through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-enchanted-christmas-at-linbrook-heritage-estate tickets-200356972097.
