Margaret Anne Redwine (Teen) Timberlake, 90, of Lexington died Sunday, December 10 at Lexington Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

A private memorial service will be held at the Timberlake Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Home. The burial will be at the Lexington City Cemetery.

Teen was born July 9, 1933 in Macon, GA to Dr. James Daniel Redwine and Hazel Slaughter Redwine. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James D. Redwine, Jr. and Hal McLean Redwine.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Casper Hill (Tim) Timberlake, Jr.; her children Casper Hill (Trip) Timberlake, III, Camey Timberlake Dillon (Scott), Tricia Timberlake Welch, Mary Craighill Timberlake Brown (Brick), and Daniel Redwine Timberlake (Ashley); her brother, J. Craighill Redwine (Helen); her grandchildren, Molly Timberlake Loflin (Brad), Casper Hill Timberlake IV, Scott Timberlake Dillon (Betsey), Camelyn Timberlake Gustafson (David), Whitley Timberlake Brown (Abby), Anne Craighill Brown Montague, Richard Christopher Welch, McLean Timberlake Welch, Spencer Dunaway Welch (Shannon), Ella Kathryn Timberlake, and Daniel McLean Timberlake; and twelve great grandchildren.

Teen graduated from Lexington Senior High School and attended Duke University for two years before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Tim Timberlake, in 1953, beginning their 70 year love affair. She then transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill - Tim claims marrying her was the only way to get her away from Duke! However, Teen was most proud to say that she studied at Oxford after her educational experience there one summer with a friend.

Teen leaves behind a legacy of love. To know her was to love her. You were drawn in by her beauty and grace, and held tight with her kindness, goodness, and the depth of her love. Everyone she touched was a better person because of it.

To her eleven grandchildren, "Teeny" was always larger than life. She had the magic touch and could take away the pain of a skinned knee or a broken heart with a gentle kiss and encouraging words. She always showered them with her love, warmth, and generosity. That must be why, even as adults, they all describe her as AWESOME! Even her great grandchildren, who are all under the age of nine, would always light up when she was around.

Teen's family got the best of her, but there was certainly enough of her to go around. Her many friends, near and far, all respected and adored her. Her bridge and mahjong friends describe her as fiercely competitive, in the most fun and upbeat way. She had golf buddies, tennis partners, walking pals, and friends with whom she could discuss anything and everything. Her companions all enjoyed her company and her sense of humor. She could laugh at herself, and also at you. A very dear friend described her as "the best friend a woman could have. I am a better person because I knew Teen."

Our community is a better place, too. Teen supported many efforts with her time and talents. She especially loved performing, evident in her breakout roles in Charity League plays presented to elementary schools, and her break dancing moves in Project Potential's Dancing with the Stars fundraising events. Teen served on several boards, including the Charity League, Family Services of Davidson County, and Duke University Cancer Center. She was a co-founder, with Tim, of Project Potential of Lexington, and she was instrumental in fundraising for the First United Methodist Church and the Home for the Mentally Challenged. Teen was exceptionally successful in fundraising because everyone agrees that "you couldn't say NO to Teen!"

Never losing her sense of humor or style, she announced on Sunday morning, surrounded by her family, "I don't know what to wear to a cremation!" She then summed up her life perfectly and succinctly with her final words, "It's been a good ride."

The world is certainly a better place because of the magnificent footprint Teen left behind. Her children certainly believe that "over the years she changed in [our] eyes only from being the best mom in the world to one of the most amazing women [we] had ever met."

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to: Family Services of Davidson County, PO Box 607, Lexington, NC 27293 or the charity of your choice.
