Yadkin Star Baptist invites all to camp meeting

Yadkin Star Baptist Church will host its first annual Fisher of Men Camp Meeting on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The church is located at 835 N. Koontz Rd, Lexington, NC 27295.

In a letter sent out to churches across the county, Yadkin Star invites people “to come take part in a Godly day of fellowship, food and fun.” Rev. Dr. Timothy Williams shared it will be a day of unity.

“I want to see people come together. It’s taken from the premise of camp meetings and tent revivals. People would embark upon some church or campground and be out there all week, preaching and singing. The essence of it is about fellowship. We’re going to try and cross all those different barriers. You can find anything to build a fence to not commune with one another. We’re just trying to come together as one with the saints and unsaved.”

Williams stated when the mic comes on that morning, attendees will hear voices on it constantly throughout the day. The church has invited 28 clergy members to share a few words based off the meeting’s chosen scripture of Matthew 4:18-19. Lexington’s current and former mayor, Lexington Police Department’s chief, the Sherriff and members of the Lexington City Council will speak as well.

Throughout the day, there will be activities for children including a bouncy house and school supplies will be given out. Representatives from Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Novant Health will be present to answer questions and share a wealth of information. Yadkin Star will provide a lunch consisting of a hot dog, chips and water, at no charge (quantity is limited). Food trucks and vendors will also be on site with items for purchase. Sponsors for the event are Food Lion and Wal-Mart.

“We’re exited about this. It’s already a success. You’ve got to see what you see before you see it. What a glorious time we’re going to have!”
