Yard sale to benefit youth organization

Yard sale to benefit youth organization

On Saturday, March 27th, Anything for Our Youth (AFOY) will host their Yard Sale Fundraiser from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. The sale will take place at 250 Fairview Dr. in Lexington.

AFOY started as a social group that believed in the local youth. Championing their vision of “Hosting events where a Kid can be a Kid,” the organization organizes events throughout the year to allow children to have fun, learn and interact. Yearly events include an Easter Egg Hunt, a Halloween party, a community fun day and the Winter Wonderland Formal.

As has been the case for most non-profits, raising funds has been challenging in the pandemic. With masks becoming a wardrobe staple and social distancing being a requirement, creativity has been at the forefront of fundraising. AFOY Executive Director, Tina Royal, knows this firsthand.

“It has been a hard year for non-profits and seeking ways to raise funding has been challenging,” noted Royal. “We had to think of fundraisers to do virtually or social distanced. We decided to clean up our office and gather a few family and friends to make donations to help us raise funds.”

All of the proceeds from the yard sale will go towards AFOY’s end of the school year and back to school celebrations. The event is open to the public and will be held outside. Visitors are asked to please wear a mask. All items are $1.00.

"We have some pretty good items like yard equipment, computer monitors, household goods, some small furniture, children's clothes,” Royal said. “Our special deal is stuffing the bag with clothes for $5.00, so anything you can get in the bag will be a great bargain!"
