Last October, the Lexington Barbecue Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary with a sizzling lineup and an unforgettable night at the Jammin’ at the AMP Pre-Pig Shindig. Headlining the celebration at the Breeden Amphitheater was none other than Edwin McCain, whose soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, including fan favorites “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More,” echoed through the crowd and left a lasting mark. What no one knew then, McCain had another surprise in store.
A few days ago, McCain was revealed as “Nessy” on FOX’s The Masked Singer, ending a stellar run in the Final 6 after keeping fans and judges guessing week after week. Some guessed Sting, others thought Gene Simmons, but our very own Davidson Intern Riley recognized that unmistakable voice right away. Because, as Riley put it, "You can’t mask big love." And Edwin McCain? He’s got Lexington-style love, a big heart, a bigger voice, and a deep connection to the fans who welcomed him with open arms last fall.
To celebrate the reveal, McCain is throwing an Unmasked Friends Party on May 7 at L.A.’s legendary Troubadour, benefiting LA Fire Charities. He’s also releasing a new album, Lucky, his first in over a decade, and heading back out on tour starting May 3. From the AMP stage to national TV, McCain’s journey is a testament to staying true to your voice, something Lexington heard loud and clear. And thanks to Riley’s sharp ear and local insight, we all got to say, we knew it was you, Edwin.
